Mobilita žiakov v rámci programu Erasmus+ na ostrove Réunion
Naša škola pokračuje v úspešnej realizácii programu Erasmus+. Prinášame skúsenosti dvoch študentov, ktorí absolvovali svoju mobilitu na francúzskom ostrove Réunion v Indickom oceáne. Pobyt bol pre nich plný nových aktivít, tradícií a zvykov, ktoré sa výrazne líšia od tých na Slovensku.
Štúdium a školský život
Obaja študenti strávili väčšinu času na Lycée Levavasseur, kde mali možnosť vyskúšať si predmety, ktoré sú na Slovensku skôr výnimočné – napríklad umelecké či športové hodiny priamo v rámci rozvrhu.
Veľkou udalosťou bol „Týždeň jazykov“, počas ktorého sa zapojili do rôznych aktivít – od tanca cez kaligrafiu až po ochutnávku tradičných jedál. Jeden zo študentov sa aktívne podieľal na príprave nemeckého dňa, keďže tento jazyk je jeho dôležitým predmetom aj doma.
Počas pobytu mali tiež možnosť stretnúť sa so skupinou sedemnástich švédskych študentov, s ktorými spoločne objavovali ostrov, diskutovali o fungovaní Európskej únie a navštívili múzeá či miestnu sopku. V matematike sa venovali rozsiahlejšiemu projektu na vybranú tému a vyskúšali si aj predmety, ktoré doma neštudujú, napríklad ekonómiu.
Rozvoj jazykov a zručností
Pobyt na Réunione bol veľkou výzvou aj z jazykového hľadiska. Keďže angličtina nebola bežne používaná, obaja sa museli spoliehať na francúzštinu – či už v škole, v obchodoch alebo pri rozhovoroch s hostiteľskými rodinami. To im umožnilo rýchlo zlepšiť jazykové schopnosti a získať väčšiu istotu v komunikácii.
Zároveň si zdokonalili angličtinu – najmä pri prezentáciách a diskusiách, ktoré im pomohli prekonať obavy z verejného vystupovania – a pokračovali aj v nemčine, ktorá bola súčasťou vyučovania.
Okrem jazykov sa naučili aj praktické veci – od samostatného cestovania lietadlom a orientácie na letiskách až po hospodárenie s vlastným rozpočtom či starostlivosť o domácnosť.
Osobný rozvoj a voľný čas
Život na ostrove priniesol obom študentom nové podnety. V spoločnosti hostiteľských rodín spoznali bežný život Réunionu – od návštev horského mestečka Cilaos cez prechádzky po tradičných trhoch až po účasť na športových turnajoch, piknikoch a komunitných podujatiach.
Najväčším prínosom však bola nezávislosť a sebadôvera. Obaja študenti si vyskúšali, aké je to fungovať v úplne odlišnom prostredí bez toho, aby sa mohli vždy spoľahnúť na materinský jazyk. Naučili sa, že aj jazykové bariéry sa dajú prekonať, ak má človek odvahu osloviť iných a hľadať riešenia.
Záver
Mobilita na ostrove Réunion bola pre našich dvoch študentov jedinečnou skúsenosťou. Priniesla im nové vedomosti, posilnila jazykové kompetencie a naučila ich lepšie zvládať každodenné výzvy.
Ako sami uviedli, z pobytu si odnášajú väčšiu otvorenosť, samostatnosť a pripravenosť čeliť novým situáciám – hodnoty, ktoré im pomôžu nielen v štúdiu, ale aj v budúcom živote.
Student Mobility within the Erasmus+ Program on Réunion Island
Our school continues the successful implementation of the Erasmus+ program. We share the experiences of two students who took part in their mobility on the French island of Réunion in the Indian Ocean. Their stay was full of new activities, traditions, and customs that are very different from those in Slovakia.
Studies and School Life
Both students spent most of their time at Lycée Levavasseur, where they had the opportunity to try subjects that are rather uncommon in Slovakia—for example, art or sports lessons directly as part of the timetable.
A major highlight was the “Language Week,” during which they participated in a variety of activities—from dance and calligraphy to tasting traditional dishes. One of the students actively contributed to preparing the German Day, since this language is an important subject for him also at home.
During their stay, they also had the opportunity to meet a group of seventeen Swedish students, with whom they explored the island, discussed the functioning of the European Union, and visited museums as well as the local volcano. In mathematics, they worked on an extensive project on a chosen topic and also experienced subjects they do not study at home, such as economics.
Language and Skills Development
The stay on Réunion was also a major linguistic challenge. Since English was not commonly used, both had to rely on French—whether at school, in shops, or in conversations with host families. This allowed them to quickly improve their language abilities and gain greater confidence in communication.
At the same time, they developed their English—especially through presentations and discussions, which helped them overcome fears of public speaking—and they also continued with German, which was part of the school curriculum.
Beyond languages, they learned practical skills—from traveling independently by plane and navigating airports to managing their own budget and taking care of household responsibilities.
Personal Growth and Leisure
Life on the island brought both students new experiences. With their host families, they got to know everyday life on Réunion—from visiting the mountain town of Cilaos and strolling through traditional markets to taking part in sports tournaments, picnics, and community events.
The greatest benefit, however, was independence and self-confidence. Both students experienced what it is like to function in a completely different environment without always being able to rely on their native language. They learned that language barriers can be overcome if one has the courage to reach out to others and look for solutions.
Conclusion
The mobility on Réunion Island was a unique experience for our two students. It brought them new knowledge, strengthened their language competences, and taught them how to better handle everyday challenges.
As they themselves stated, they are taking away from the stay a greater openness, independence, and readiness to face new situations—values that will help them not only in their studies but also in their future lives.
